UPDATE ON COTTAGE CONVERSION POLICY (see the Ad Hoc Committee's Interim Report and Final Report) The Municipality currently is waiting for comments from the Ministry regarding its application for approval of Official Plan Amendment No. Two. The implementing zoning by-law has been appealed and the Municipality is waiting for a hearing date to be set by the Ontario Municipal Board.
Official Plan Amendment No. Two
Council enacted By-law No. 2128-04 to adopt Official Plan Amendment No. Two at their February 9, 2004 meeting. The Amendment is not in effect until it has received approval from the Ministry. It has been forwarded to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing for approval.
Council, at their meeting held March 22, 2004 passed Resolution No. 146/04 requesting the Ministry to make a modification to the Amendment. As Lambert Island was also included in the Amendment and for purposes of clarity and consistency, it was agreed that reference in this regard should be made earlier in the document by removing and replacing Section 7.4.1 and the first bulleted paragraph with the following: 7.4.1 For all lots held under separate ownership, or capable of being in separate title, a certificate of conversion may be issued where the following have been complied with;
Zoning By-law to Implement Official Plan Amendment No. Two Council also enacted By-law No. 2129-04 being the implementing Zoning By-law, which will not be in full effect until final approval is obtained from the Ministry for Amendment Number Two.
The Municipality has received three appeals on the Zoning By-law, all of which have been forwarded to the Ontario Municipal Board.
