Hydro One planned outage June 15, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hello Mayor Landry,

I’m reaching out to inform you about a planned outage scheduled for the Districts of Thunder Bay. This outage will allow crews to maintain and replace critical equipment and infrastructure serving the area. We understand power outages can be challenging, and we appreciate the patience and understanding of our community as we make these important investments. By proactively investing in the local grid, we can avoid customers experiencing lengthy unplanned outages in the future.

A planned outage is scheduled for June 15, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Approximately 3,600 Hydro One customers will be affected during the outage. The areas include Macgregor, Shuniah, McTavish, Gorham, Jacques, Sibley, Fowler, and Thunder Bay Unorganized. Affected Hydro One customers have been notified via an automated phone call. Hydro One customers can also visit our outage map (select ‘future planned outages’ in the legend) or call 1-888-664-9376 for more information.

I want to thank you for your continued support as we complete this important work. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further information. I’ve included some information below that may be helpful for you and your constituents to consider prior to the planned outage.

Customers are encouraged to prepare for the upcoming outage by taking the following actions:
•                Make sure appliances, such as the stove, are in the off position.
•                Make sure cellphones and devices are fully charged.
•                Use a battery-powered alarm clock or cellphone to ensure alarms aren’t missed.
•                Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible and use a cooler with ice for items needed during the planned outage.
•                If water services will be affected at your home, consider filling jugs of water to use for drinking and cooking.
•                If using a generator, remember to use it in a dry area outdoors away from any open windows, doors and vents. Visit the Electrical Safety Authority at esasafe.com for more tips.
