2022 Municipal Election

The 2022 Municipal Election will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022 and is governed by Municipal Elections Act. The new term of Council will begin November 15. 2022.

Shuniah residents should be receiving their Voter Information Letter/Voter Cards by the beginning of October.

Four offices have been acclaimed and there will be an election for the remaining one office.

For residents in the MacGregor Ward, the Mayor, Wendy Landry and Councilors, Donna Blunt, Ron Giardetti and Don Smith have been acclaimed, therefore, there will be no election for these offices.

For those in the McTavish Ward, we have 2 candidates for this office, Meghan Chomut and Dawn Powell.

All residents who are eligible to vote on Election Day and who have their primary residence in Shuniah can vote for School Board Trustees depending on your School support.

2022 District School Board Elections

The elections for Ontario’s school board trustees are also held on Monday, October 24, 2022. The City of Thunder Bay’s City Clerk is the Returning Officer for school board elections. French Public and French Separate School Boards have been acclaimed. An election will be held for the English Public and English Separate School Boards.
