Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA)

It’s the Conservation Authority’s mandate is to ensure the conservation, restoration and responsible management of Ontario's water, land and natural habitats through programs that balance human, environmental and economic needs. Shuniah appoints a Council member to sit as a representative of the LRCA. You can find more information on this Association on its website at 

Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU)

The TBDHU is a non-profit agency funded jointly by the provincial government and the municipalities they serve. Shuniah appoints a Council member to sit as a representative of the TBDHU. You can find more information on TBDHU on their website:​

Northwestern Ontario Municipalities Association (NOMA)

NOMA is made up of four components: the Kenora District Municipal Association, the Rainy River District Municipal Association, the Thunder Bay District Municipal League (TBDML) and the City of Thunder Bay. Other than the City of Thunder Bay, membership is attained by being a member of the district organization. The Association considers matters of general interest to the municipalities and works to procure enactment of such legislation that may be of advantage to the municipalities and to take united action on all matters where the rights of the municipalities may be affected. Thunder Bay District Social Services Board (TB DSSAB)

The TB DSSAB was established to deliver social services in the territorial district of Thunder Bay; those services being Ontario Works, Community Child Care and Social Housing. One Council member is appointed from one the five rural municipalities to sit as member of the TB DSSAB, and this seat is rotated between the five municipalities every four years. The Board’s website can be found at: 

Superior North Emergency Services (EMS)

Although the Headquarters is located in the City of Thunder Bay, there are 17 EMS Stations throughout the District of Thunder Bay from emergency medical services is provided. Every community and unorganized area in the District of Thunder Bay is serviced by Superior North EMS paramedics. You can find information on services for Shuniah on the EMS website at:
