Economic Development

The Economic Development Department is responsible for facilitating community and economic development planning processes and initiatives; securing funding for economic development activities and programs; assisting local groups, businesses and individuals with establishing economic development plans and projects; and the development and expansion of community services as they relate to the 2016-2020 Strategic Plan.

We help with:

  • Community information and statistics
  • Networking and referrals
  • Assistance in site selection
  • Labour market data

We are responsible for:

  • Identifying sectoral opportunities for economic development
  • Acting as liaison between local organizations, businesses and individuals and representatives of government, business, and industry concerning economic development
  • Researching and preparing proposals for private and public-sector funding opportunities
