Jenna Hodder

Q: What position are you running for?

  1. I am running for Councillor at large for McTavish Ward

Q: Tell people about your connection to your municipality:- How long have you lived here? What do you enjoy best about the area?

  1. I have lived in Shuniah for many years. What I enjoy most is the community. It is friendly and a safe place to raise children. The area is peaceful and beautiful and is easy to connect to nature.

Q: What strengths/background do you bring to your municipality as a candidate for council

  1. Throughout my career, I have developed the confidence to know how to analyze complex information working within capital projects and facilities planning, and as an analyst. These careers have given me an understanding how the township can work with other levels of government. I value life in Shuniah and understanding the community needs, I will weigh the options and make informed and practical decisions.

Q:What vision do you have/objectives would you like to achieve for the municipality?

  1. We have been fortunate to have a strong group of leaders here in Shuniah for many years. I will contribute by helping build on what we already have, while preparing thoughtfully for the future—protecting the things residents value while being open to innovative ideas and opportunities.

Q: If you could tell residents something that encompasses your desire to be a candidate, what would it be?

  1. My professional experience has taught me that the best outcomes happen when people are engaged, information is understood, and everyone is working toward a common goal. My campaign theme is to Listen, Connect, and Contribute. I founded and organized the Lakeshore Holiday Market in Shuniah in 2022, and 2023, partnering with fantastic small businesses and vendors in and around our community. This event allowed us to raise and donate 100% of the proceeds to charitable organizations. This is the spirit of community, and collaboration I want to bring if voted in as McTavish Ward Councillor.

1: What position are you running for?

Shuniah Council – McTavish Ward.

2: Tell people about your connection to your municipality. How long have you lived here? What do you enjoy best about the area?

I’ve been proud to call Shuniah home for nearly 15 years. Its natural beauty – the lakes, forests, trails and rural lifestyle – combined with the people who make up our community, make it a truly special place to live.

3: What strengths/background do you bring to your municipality as a candidate for council?

I bring over 15 years of experience in financial services, including five years in Project and Change Management, where I’ve led strategic and merger-related initiatives requiring strong financial decision-making, problem-solving, and bringing people together to achieve common goals for a local Credit Union.

I hold a Bachelor of General Arts Degree with a minor in Pre-Law/Political Science from Lakehead University, as well as a diploma in Human Resource Management from Confederation College. I would bring a practical combination of financial, governance, project management, and people-focused experience to council, with a collaborative approach to serving our community.

4: What vision do you have/objectives would you like to achieve for the municipality?

My vision is to help preserve what makes Shuniah such a great place to live while planning responsibly for the future. I want to see us continue to make sound financial decisions, maintain reliable infrastructure, support responsible growth, and keep communication with residents open and transparent.

5: If you could tell residents something that encompasses your desire to be a candidate, what would it be?

I’m running because I care about Shuniah and want to be part of shaping its future. I’m not running with all the answers – I’m running to listen, ask questions, bring my experience to the table, and work with council and our residents to make practical decisions that are in the best interest of our community.
