In the spirit of Seniors Month in Ontario, Shuniah will be offering a series of presentations and workshops throughout the month of June that focus on healthy aging in place. Workshop topics will vary from digital literacy and cyber security to staying connected and active in the community and making life at home manageable for you as you age! You can participate in a few different ways:

  • Attend the workshops and presentations
  • Volunteer to help facilitate program delivery or play an advisory role
  • Complete a survey to provide input on what you’d like to see in this Seniors Month program series

Attend a Workshop

Stay tuned for a full schedule of programs and details which will be posted here in May! All workshops, presentations and gatherings are free to attend, but some will require registration and have limited capacity.

We would like to offer free transportation to workshops and other accommodations for those who may need it to participate – please contact the Community Services and Events Coordinator at csec@shuniah.org or at (807) 683-4546 in advance for further information and to make reservations.

Volunteer Information

To better cater these offerings to the older adult population, we’re looking for some guidance and involvement from Shuniah’s seniors! Being a volunteer for this initiative could look like: providing input and feedback on presentation and workshop topics, providing insight into common accessibility needs and best practices to meet them, advising on best methods of communication among the senior demographic, helping facilitate workshops and aid participants where needed, and helping create a comfortable program space.

Get involved today to play an important role in supporting Seniors Month and future seniors programming in Shuniah! Email Hannah at csec@shuniah.org or call (807) 683-4546 for more details and to volunteer!
