Shuniah Soil Mates Community Garden
The Shuniah Soil Mates Community Gardens were first endorsed by Mayor & Council in the fall of 2014, with the first gardens having been built in the spring of 2015. These gardens have grown in numbers to reach the full enclosure capacity of 36 gardens. Members grow food for many reasons, some of those being family participation, family and food donation or for total donation to those in the need in Thunder Bay. The Soil Mates are a proud member of the TBDHU Community Garden Collective and support Thunder Bay and area food strategy efforts.
The Soil Mates rent garden spaces each year with many returning members, and meet each year in spring at the MacGregor Recreation Centre before the gardening season begins. If you are interested in learning more, you can reach out to the Community Services and Events Coordinator at csec@shuniah.org.

Shuniah Youth Groups – Our Shuniah Youth Group established in 2007, has seen hundred of kids participate in a wide variety of weekly activities held at the centre. It is a safe and friendly place for our youth to participate in weekly activities and special events while meeting other kids in their own community! Drop in activities for youth grade three and up (Kids must sign in and out of centre). Younger children welcome to participate in activities with parental supervision.
